I know I know you are stuck at home working longer hours, kids are crying and restless and doggies are barking all day, you are eating ten times in a day and losing your mind because your common routine is off. The boggling mind you are experiencing is affecting billions of people all around the world and stress levels are at its highest.

This pandemic will result in major lifestyle changes in the future and how we do business going forward will change dramatically.

But wait! How can we help?

Our overworked mind needs stimulation and we all know how socializing with no face to face time is taking a toll on you. All we are seeing is blue light throughout the day from our laptop to mobile devices to the television and this can eventually lead to macular degeneration, kindly Google! A small change in your lifestyle can reduce this stress and help you find some balance that is beneficial to your mindset. That is why we put together some of our favorite hobbies and activities people are applying to their daily lives all around the world. This will not only stimulate your mind, but it will also give you that extra burst of energy you require to wake up every day and live life to the fullest because life is too short to watch Netflix all day.

So let’s get to it! Here are our top 18 activities we suggest daily:

  1. Build a Puzzle: Puzzles will keep you going for some time depending on the complexity and size.
  2. Read a book: I know it has been years’ but reading a book on something that excites you in life or business can elevate your mind and help you find new ideas.
  3. Meditation: Meditate every day for at least 30min to an hour. Listen to a soothing soundtrack or your favorite motivational podcast.
  4. Comedy: Watch stand up comedies, laughter is the cure to stress.
  5. Cook instead of TakeOut: Find a new recipe and make it. Learn all the technical skills to speed up the process and note down your mistakes.
  6. Train or Stretch: We all know how important exercising is. Breaking a sweat before you start your day can give you a major energy boost.
  7. Bubble baths: If you have a bathtub then use it once or twice a week. Listening to cool music with a glass of wine will make you feel superb.
  8. Reflect on your life: Look at all of your accomplishments in the past year and set up micro-goals for the coming year. Micro-goals (goals that lead up to your main goal)
  9. Fix something: I know there is something in your house or car that needs a quick fix, set some time with a reminder on your calendar, and get to it.
  10. Call your loved ones: We are professionals in video conferencing due to working from home in this unfortunate time and seeing our loved ones can be difficult. Set it up and get going!
  11. Look at your past years’ pictures: Nostalgia can be fantastic and can put you at ease when you see happy days.
  12. Financial planning: It is probably time to revisit your budget planning and make a note of the bad debt to pay off. Get your freedom fund going and look for compounding solutions to grow your savings.
  13. Future travel: Make lists of all the places you would like to visit when the pandemic is over. Put a travel budget together and stick to it.
  14. Plants: Planting is an excellent outdoor activity to get the hands dirty and the mind free. Once you see your plants growing you will feel joy and release plenty of serotonin.
  15. Pet training: Research the net on finding new ways of teaching your pet new tricks. Alsop spending 30 minutes a day playing with your pets will reduce high levels of stress.
  16. Legos: LEGOs are not only for kids. Get some LEGO Technic and start building your favorite car or star wars falcon. Expensive but worth it.
  17. Learn a new skill: Spoken languages, coding, analytics, artificial intelligence are a few of the popular trends during this time. Stick to something close to your passions in life so that no money is wasted or possibly falling bored during the process. There is plenty of free content out there.
  18. Power naps: My favorite thing in the world. You can get so much energy from one-hour power naps during the day which will help you be more productive in the evenings or when pulling a late night.

So I hope these activities will help you get through this when feeling confined to one space during this pandemic. Most importantly you need a daily routine and you need to stick to it. If you defer from it then catch up the following day and give yourself a turnaround time. Stay safe and take care and keep grinding.

Hope to see you soon!!

Restaurants a must visit in Johannesburg, South Africa https://kcomedia.co.za/restaurants-a-must-visit-in-johannesburg-south-africa/ Sun, 29 Sep 2019 07:36:33 +0000 https://websitedemos.net/outdoor-adventure-02/?p=298

When it comes to good food there is no doubt that Johannesburg has a number of high ranking restaurants which I feel is a must-visit in the busy city. After moving to Johannesburg in 2014 the food culture got me indulging in the direction of Flavour. We all love food that is for sure but we sometimes waste cash on restaurants that are not up to standards and services that are sometimes disappointing, well here is a list of our top FIVE favourite places to get your munch on and most importantly get your money worth!

Pizza E Vino – Kyalami Corner
One of the best Italian Pizza and Pasta restaurants to visit, here you will be swept away with the perfect selection of wood firebase pizzas and fresh pasta selections. Thursday is Pizza special so they will upgrade your Large Pizza to a Grande for free and which normally becomes your lunch for the next day.

Marble – Rosebank
When you are looking for that perfect char-grill braai taste in meat then look no further, Marble is one of the best experiences when it comes to red meat. We often go for their signature Rib Eye dish which melts in your mouth, this I call a party in my mouth!!

The Rock – Kyalami Corner
There is no place in South Africa that tops the Ribs special on a Thursday night especially when served in their Peri-Peri sauce.
Here you will be treated with the best evening dinners often facing the sunset in Johannesburg. With cool sofas that make you punish that bottle of Red Wine, I often say Wine and Dine!

Silver Orange Bistro – Hartbeespoort
Presentation is everything and when it comes to this Bistro you will be fascinated with how Art can be something you eat on a plate. With delicious flavours bursting in your mouth you would definitely come back for more. With an Orange Orchard that is situated on the property, you would seek a Gin and Tonic and take in the fresh citrus in the air. A bit of a drive from the mainland but well worth it.

The View – Four Seasons Hotel Westcliff
When it comes to fine dining and a view for a romantic occasion then this is a place to satisfy. Reservations need to be placed in advanced but so worth it. Take a caddy to the top alongside villas that you would want to book for your next weekend away. Make sure you reserve a seating that offers that panoramic view of Jozi. With Art and Flavours on your plate, you would not be disappointed.

“This I call a party”

– K. Pather

There is no doubt that the above selection is one of our top five to get started in Johannesburg however we will be posting more local restaurants soon in different locations as well as in countries like Paris, Indonesia, Prague, Namibia, and much more! So make you are subscribed to our newsletter found at the bottom of our Blog page.

Camera Gear for Travelling https://kcomedia.co.za/camera-equipment-for-travelling/ Thu, 12 Sep 2019 07:29:36 +0000 https://websitedemos.net/outdoor-adventure-02/?p=296 There is always some holiday planned in the year but for most people, a Camera is never on the list. In 2013 when I purchased my first Nikon DSLR I had no idea what the photography game is all about. That same camera inspired me to start hosting car shows around South Africa and also the first-ever overnight camping festival in KwaZulu-Natal, Durban. There is no doubt that a camera can lead to great paths especially adventures like travelling the world. For some reason, I am addicted to travel and this all started after making short videos with my Camera at every place I go to. It also took some laziness out of me because to get that perfect picture or video you will have to step out of your comfort zone and get to these locations that are fit for Instagram or your personal photo album. Getting sunburn and running through dirty terrain is all part of the game. Some of you might say that you are not into pro-photography but making memories digitally and having them stored away in a cloud or local hard drive can last forever.

The Smart Phone has come a long way and with today’s technology, we have a powerhouse computer in the palm of our hands.
A few years ago when we spoke about High Dynamic Range (HDR), 4K resolution with Stabilization and various Frame Rates it was only possible to get these features with a DSLR or Mirrorless camera offering these high functionalities, now your smartphone can have the same functionality up to a certain level which is more than sufficient for your travel memories. For those who checked out my channel on Youtube (Kaylin’s Vlog), the Bali videos were all filmed in 4K UHD using my Samsung Note 9. It came so handy to snap a picture or record a video on the fly without digging into my camera bag trying to switch on my Canon or GoPro and before you know it you missed something awesome. My smartphone became my go-to camera and when time is on my side I pull our my Mirrorless Canon to frame that perfect shot!

Lighting is always an issue so when travelling I make sure that my shots are taken between sunrise and sunset, this gives me the best natural light because carrying external lights while travelling just packs extra pounds on your backpack. The last thing you want when travelling is a heavy backpack that can slow you down and deplete your energy. Try not to shoot at night because when you adjust your +ISO levels (allows more light into the lens) you will end up with a grainy image quality that looks far from nice.

Get out and make memories!

When travelling here is my list of the important gear for your next adventure!

1. SmartPhone – Try getting one that captures images with HDR and 1080P with 60 frames per second (FPS) or 4K optional, the high FPS allows you to capture in slow motion which gives you that smooth cinematic footage. The main benefit using a smartphone is uploading your content directly to social media whereas with a camera the SD card content has to be copied into your PC then uploaded.

2. GoPro or Action Cam – I prefer the GoPro action cam because it has been in the market from the dawn of action cams and targeted towards adventure sports as the go-to camera. Most action cams are waterproof allowing you to take them into the ocean or even jumping into a waterfall to capture epic videos. They also offer high and wide resolution cameras with even higher frame rates up to 120fps giving you even smoother footage.

3. DSLR or Mirrorless – This depends on your budget, these cameras can really puncture a hole in your pocket so be wise when purchasing a high-end camera, lenses are sometimes more expensive than the camera body itself so you really do not want to wing a purchase without researching the product first.

4. Extra Batteries – Most important item on the list when carrying a camera with removable batteries, having two batteries for each camera is a must, there were times when my camera’s battery died early in the day and my smartphone was not up to standards, I missed good shots throughout the day until I found a plug point to charge the camera. A good alternative is a high amperage power bank that can be your back up to get your smartphone or camera snapping away again.

5. A Tripod – Grippers or Tripods are cool because they give you the distance, grip and steady movements when filming or taking pictures, they are feasible and found in almost all tech shops. Most Tripods can hold your smartphone, GoPro and camera with standard fittings that make it modular. A good choice would be the Gorilla or Joby Pods.

6. Drones – One of the best toys to have not because they are fun to fly but also they take the most amazing aerial footage. Drones can become costly depending on the camera quality build and are now getting more affordable for beginners to start drone photography. Once you get comfortable with flying you will never forget about it on your holiday. Drones are banned in some countries so please take note of the regulations for entering a country. This is still an optional item but a damn good technology to have.
